Welcome!

Oct 2012 Website Update: This year has again flown by and we are moving quickly towards the Holiday Season and then on to 2013! We have had a great year thus far and hope to keep that momentum going. A few minor changes, we bid ‘goodbye’ to Louie, who has found his ‘Forever’ home, with a young lady, but we have welcomed Penny and Precious, both AQHA mares, who are fitting in very nicely with our herd.

A few events to watch for:

Buckaroo Bingo will be held at the Rogue Ale Brewery on Nov 4th, 2012. Bring the whole family to play for some fun prizes and help raise funds for our on-going Scholarship Fund.

Our Holiday Open House: Dec 16th, from 1pm to 4pm. Come on out to the Barn and meet our team of Staff, Volunteers, and Equine Therapists. It’s a Potluck; so bring your favorite holiday treat. Word has it that Santa will drop by again this year!! Remember your cameras!

Mark your calendars for Feb 9th, 2013 for our annual "HEARTS FOR HORSES". Our largest fundraiser of the year will again be held at the Oregon Coast Aquarium from 6:30 to 9:30. Join us for a fun evening that includes a great Silent and Oral Auction, Music and Great food. See you there! (More info on our Calendar page!)

Please follow us on Facebook. If you are interested in riding, know someone who would benefit from our services, or are interested in volunteering, we would love to hear from you.

Come out and visit us! We look forward to seeing you at the barn!

The Ramp and Lift Project is officially accomplished!

On July 26, 2010, Bright Horizons realized a dream that was three years in the making – the installation of a Sure-Hands lift that will enable us to serve riders who utilize wheelchairs and are not able to transfer independently on to our horses.

Coupled with our recently completed ramp and mounting area, we will now be able to expand our programs to an entire new group of riders who have previously been excluded due to lack of accessibility.

The ramp and lift is the result of many donations of cash, materials and manpower which demonstrates what can be done when many sources collaborate to make things happen. The final lynchpin in the effort was the donation of the lift mechanism by Atonement Lutheran Church. They graciously donated the lift which had been utilized by a parishioner who had passed away. Funds for the overhead support rail and installation were made possible by a grant from the Siletz Tribal Charitable Fund. The ramp was constructed with materials donated by ProBuild Lumber with the generous donation of design and installation work by Mark Hanrahan. Of course the backs and hands of many Bright Horizons volunteers were also necessary to complete all of the work necessary for this project.
