Our Horses

Meet Our Herd

Juli and Frisco, two horses at Bright Horizons Therapeutic Riding Center, Siletz, Oregon Horses are either donated or leased to Bright Horizons. Before a horse can be accepted into our program, each potential "equine therapist" is carefully screened and evaluated for soundness, temperament, health and smoothness of gaits by the program director during a rigorous 30-60 day trial period. Only horses deemed appropriate are admitted as Bright Horizons Program horses.

We currently have four full-time equine therapists. Quick, Juli, Miss Royal and Miss India (see photos below), together with several part-time horses, who are all willing partners who work diligently to give each rider the best experience possible. Horses are teamed with riders to help them achieve their goals and make their riding experience both positive and enjoyable. Come experience Bright Horizons for yourself!

If You're Interested in Donating a Horse

Quick

Quick

Quick is a 17-year-old Chestnut Quarter Horse gelding. He came to Bright Horizons in 2016 after a long career in 4H and as a trail horse! He is a favorite among riders because of his smooth, steady gaits. He is leased to Bright Horizons by Tricia Cline.

Juli

Juli

Juli is an 18-year-old Dun Norwegian Fjord mare. She came to Bright Horizons in 2010. Before her Bright Horizons career, Juli was a driving horse that pulled a cart! Juli is as sweet as they come, and has excelled in the Bright Horizons Interactive Vaulting program.

Miss Royal

Miss Royal

Royal is a 28-year-old dark bay Quarter Horse mare. She came to Bright Horizons in 2014 when her owner went off to college. Royal is used primarily for participants to learn how to groom and lead horses, because of her fabulous quiet, patient ground manners!

Miss India

India

India is a 18-year-old Appaloosa / Tennessee Walking Horse cross. She came to Bright Horizons in 2015. India loves teaching advanced riding skills to our independent participants! She also really likes it when people drop apples into her bucket.

Marvin

Marvin

Marvin is a 22-year-old Haflinger gelding. He is the newest member of the Bright Horizons club! He has been a program horse since 2017, and had a career in dressage and trail riding previous to coming here. Marvin loves treats and getting brushed!

Frisco

Frisco

Frisco is a 22-year-old chestnut Swedish Warmblood gelding. He came to Bright Horizons in 2016. Frisco had a very accomplished career as a top level dressage horse, and Bright Horizons is a great place where he can teach riders more advanced riding skills. Being a big guy at 16.3 hands, he is a great match for many of our adult riders as well!
